Takealot ******* Manufacturer’s Warranty

Takealot ******* manufacturer’s warranty Let first say this “Amazon cannot start operating here soon enough”. Takealot, who used to be outstanding in terms of support services, has gone to sh#t nowadays and the retailer now hides behind manufacturer’s warranties, in an effort to avoid refunds on defective products. Despite what the CPA says, Takealot feels that its policies override the Consumer Protection Act and in my case claim that they have no responsibility towards me, as a customer and that I have to deal directly with the manufacturer of the item I purchased. This is so convenient for TakeAlot, because the manufacturer, Dell Technologies, is based in India, several thousands of kilometers across the Indian ocean in another country. The following is my struggles with Dell Technologies in India – On the 31st of Aug 2023, I purchased a Dell 27 inch monitor from TakeAlot. The Monitor was delivered to me on the 4th Sep 2023. On the 8th of Sep 2023, after experiencing burn-in issues (image retention) with the monitor, I contacted Dell Technologies on the listed South African number. I was automatically re directed to a technical support centre in India. I then explained to a support technician, the problem I had with the monitor. I was told that the burn-in problem I experienced with the monitor, was the result of consumer abuse (really! ***!) and my warranty claim was rejected!! I was 4 days into a 36-month warranty and straight off the bat, the manufacturer back paddles on their warranty! OMG! So, I then turned to TakeAlot who then also rejected my claim for a return claim stating, that because this monitor is covered by a manufacturer’s warranty, they cannot assist me. I bought this item from TakeAlot, less than a week ago. Was TakeAlot exempt from the Consumer Protection Act or what the hell was going on?? I went back to Dell Technologies and furiously argued my case with them. This went on for about a week or so. Dell finally agreed to replace the defective monitor, which was then delivered to me on the 19th Sep 2023. Then starting on the 13th Nov 2023, I started to have the same burn-in issues, as with the first monitor. I ran the built-in program of the monitor, to remove the image retention issues, however, the time between images being retained on the monitor screen just kept getting worse. Eventually, tired of having to run this program and now thoroughly ****@d with this product, I decided to contact TakeAlot on Monday the 27th Nov 2023, demanding a call back from a team leader or a manager. A ticket was logged by someone named Nthatile.R. and I received and email from this Nthatile.R. person acknowledging my request for a call back from a team leader or manager. While waiting for TakeAlot to call me back, I engaged with Dell Technologies on Tuesday, the 28th of Nov 2023 and would you believe it, they wanted to replace the defective monitor a 3rd time!! Thoroughly fed-up with this ******* product, I refused and demanded a refund. I’ve had with this ******* product an told them so! I was asked to sent them my TakeAlot sales receipt which I did. Dell Technologies India got back to me and said they could not refund me because of the age of the monitor! Hallelujah! I had the monitor for less than 3 months!! ***! The monitor was practically brand-new and here Dell Technologies reckoned that the monitor is too old to qualify for a refund. ON what planet was this company based??? Seriously ****@d now I again send TakeAlot an email on the 30th of Nov 2023, with all the ensuing correspondence between Dell Technologies and myself and demanded a call back from a Team leader or Manager. Late yesterday afternoon I received a reply from this same Nthatile.R. which, I assumed did not bother to pass my request to a team leader or manager but instead, maybe not in so many words, told me to F@ck off”, you’re on your own, sort it out yourself, because we cannot help you and don’t bother TakeAlot again!! The Consumer Protection Act expressly state under --- Imp**** warranty of quality ---- In terms of s56 (read with s55) of the CPA, all goods sold to a consumer are sold with an imp**** warranty of quality, that cannot be contracted out of or revoked. The section stating “ cannot be contracted out” in my opinion means that a retailer cannot shift his its responsibilities to a consumer to a third party, which in this case the manufacturer. I assume this means for the first 6 months of the sales agreement at least. I hope that whomever plans to buy from TakeAlot, to avoid those products which has manufacturer’s warranties because they are not worth the headaches you will have with TakeAlot and the manufacturer. The Dell Monitor range, especially the following product Dell S2721HN 27" FHD 75Hz 4ms IPS Desktop Monitor Silver are prone to burn-in (Image retention) issues and dealing with Dell Technologies when it comes to honouring the warranty on the product will be an uphill battle. BUYER BEWARE!!!
