Takealot is take a not

I received an order for 7 items from takealot. 5 of these were books, and every one of them was dirty and had damaged covers. I followed the process to return them. After 3 days of telephone calls from takealot, telling me that they would come collect the next day, and asking me repeatedly where the address is (the same address that the items were delivered to) the items finally got collected. 2 of the items were no longer I stock, 3 were replaced. The books I received were still dirty and the covers of 2 are damaged. I am fed up with this issue. It wasn't easy for me to complete the return forms as I order through the app, but cannot return through the app. I have no computer access so I had to make a huge effort to sort this issue out the first time. I am very unhappy as I am a regular customer of takealot, I have had 14 orders this year alone. Does takealot just bank on unhappy customers giving up out of sheer frustration?

Hello Z19,

We are so sorry to learn of this unpleasant experience with your latest orders with us, as it was not our intention to disappoint you.

Thank you for taking our call today and providing us with details regarding your concerns.

However we do understand that you will be keeping the replacement order as you do not want to endure the same process again.

We are truly sorry for this experience, and if you do perhaps want further assistance please let us know.

Regards,

Takealot.com Team

I spoke to Alonda on Sunday and she said she would give me feedback regarding all the several concerns I have mentioned. I am disappointed in the dismissive tone of this reply. This issue is far from resolved. I decided to not go through the aggravation of trying to return the items but that certainly does not mean that I am happy to keep them. I bought them for gift purposes and cannot possibly give somebody a book in this condition. I also mentioned that I do not have computer access, I use the takealot app on my phone, which I cannot log returns with. Your attitude is absolutely infuriating. As is your lack of willingness to actually address the issue. I still believe that takealot banks on unhappy customers accepting bad service because the process to solve an issue is such a long and difficult one.

I received a voice message from takealot saying that they are investigating the supplier of the damaged books. I think trying to blame your supplier is really passing the buck. Are you really trying to excuse your damaged stock by blaming the people you buy it from??? Would any ethical company accept damaged goods knowing that those same goods need to be sold to loyal customers? Do not insult my intelligence and take some responsibility.
