Takealot, give half

I ordered a Nitecore Torch & Charger combo deal for Takealot on the 14.11.2016. The product was well priced at R1199; the agents advertise the same deal for R1399.

The package was delivered on the 24.12.2016, but when I opened the package, the torch was supp**** but the charger was not sent (Torch and charger are packaged individually).

I contacted the customer service department telephonically on the 25.11.2016 and informed the agent what had happened. The agent requested that I return the torch to Takealot, in order for them to investigate the issue (Investigate! No promise was ever made to supply the missing item).

I explained to the agent that the torch and charger are two separate items and are not supp**** in the same packaging, as such there would be no benefit in me returning the torch, but it would only serve to further inconvenience me. The agent agreed and stated that the matter would be looked into.

By the 4.12.2016, I had not received any further correspondence from Takealot. I then sent an email to the support department. I had to explain the whole issue again, as they appeared to have no record of the original complaint. I was again told to return a working product?

I then phoned the call centre and asked to speak to one of the supervisors. I then explained to the supervisor that the torch and charger were items that were individually packaged and there would not be any investigative benefit in returning a functioning product. The supervisor agreed that they could investigate the incident without me having to return the items that were received. He stated that they would follow up with the warehouse and supplier to determine what had happened to the charger.

I then received two emails from a support agent, asking me if I had received the battery with the torch and when I was leaving for my camping trip, so they could try and have the matter resolved before then.

I told the agent that the battery was shipped in the packaging with the torch and it was only the charger, supp**** separately that was missing. I never mentioned going on a camping trip and informed the agent of this (maybe I should have **** and the issue would have been resolved).

On the 15.12.2016, I rep**** to the support mail and asked if there had been any progress. I only received a reply on the 28.12.2016, from a different person, stating that I would have to return the torch, but to take note that they did not have stock and would have to give me a refund (The specific item has been removed from their inventory).

The Nitecore agent’s website currently shows the charger in stock .

http://nitecoresa.co.za/home/i2-intelli-charger-2014-version/

Leo85 rep**** privately:Recieved furthur corresopndence from takealot on the 16.01.2017, after requesting assistance on their facebook page.
"Kindly be advised that the deactivated for the return/exchange. Was that perhaps why it was rejected. we can perhaps exchange it up if you like ?"
I then queried what "exchange it up" was supposed to mean and was contacted by a different person who said:
"Kindly be advise we have logged a return on your behalf for collection as an exception RRN-####-####.
For collection to be completed and replacement to be forwarded once received at warehouse. "
I thought I was finally getting somewhere, but then once they had received the torch, I received a mail stating that they had credited my takealot account.
What is paticulary upsetting is that the listed price of the torch was changed on their website to R1649 on the 18.01.2017.
When I quried why I was refunded, when they stated the product would be replaced, I was told:
"Please be advised that the credit was allocated to your profile as the item is no longer available on the website. "
The product wass once again removed from the website.
So, over two months later I am now in a worse position than when I started out. Takealot is not interested in solving the matter to my standards as from the begining all they wanted was the torch back in their posssetion, so that they could refund me and they would not have to suffer a loss due to their pricing mistake.
Please take this into account when deciding to do business with takealot.
