Takealot: Flawed return and exchange policy

I purchased a bundled pack of 2 fridge filters. Each filter comes sealed and expires after 6 months once installed. The first filter was installed and worked fine and then needed to be replaced after 6 months of use. The second filter was then installed but it was defective. The problem was that the water pressure flow through the second filter was very low and not usable. I requested a return or exchange from Takealot but this was rejected since the request was made 6 months after purchase. The Takealot return policy is not suitable for the manner in which the product is bundled and sold to the consumer. The consumer in this case is not protected if a defective product is purchased. In my view, either the Takealot return policy should be amended to cater for the product type, or the product should not be bundled and sold together knowing that each sealed filter has a life-span of 6 months.
