Takealot Doesn't Give a Damn!

17 Days ago, 12 January 2020, I ordered (#***2) and paid for a Tablet for my daughter for School. 6 Days later, shortly before scheduled delivery, the shipment was unexpectedly and abruptly cancelled and my account refunded. The same Tablet was re-ordered (#***) and paid for, but this time the item was R500.00 more expensive. The order was placed 11 days ago, 18 January. When the shipment finally arrived on 27 January it was the wrong item. Instead of a her Tablet it was a random Audio Jack. That same day I contacted the Takealot Helpline the consultant undertook to: a) log a Return; b) email me, whereupon I would email back photos of the incorrect shipment; and c) immediately investigate the matter with the warehouse and arrange for urgent re-shipment of the new item. None of this happened, no email was received from the consultant, and when I later called the Helpline a new consultant confirmed that even the Return Shipment had not been logged. The new consultant Logged the Return while I was holding online. Given the urgency of the matter, 15 days on and my daughter still didn't have her Tablet for School, I asked to speak to a Senior Supervisor/Manager. I was transferred to Lawrence Toyi who said that he was 1 of 2 Senior Supervisors on duty at Takealot. Lawrence undertook to expedite the matter by ensuring the item was collected the following day and with the help of the photos to contact the warehouse, investigate the matter, and arrange for urgent re-shipment of the item. The item was duly collected the following. That evening, not having heard anything from Lawrence about the outcome of his urgent investigation, I emailed him and this was his reply: "The only problem is that I see on the website that the item is inactive now. No supplier has the item at all. I have no idea as to when will the supplier have this item and the only thing that is gonna happen now is for us to credit you back your money. The only thing I can propose now is to put this item on your wishlist and once the item is back in stock you will get a notification." Oh and then wrote, "Sorry for any inconvenience caused."

It is now 17 days on and my daughter still doesn't have her Tablet for School. Does Takealot care?
