Takealot delivery service needs improvement.

I recently had a delivery scheduled from Takealot and was told it would be delivered last week tuesday. They then changed it to wednesday which was ok with me as I assumed they must have been busier than usual. I decided to call them to confirm if it would definately arrive on wednesday and around what time (Before or after 12:00pm) as I needed to ensure somebody would be at home to accept it, and they couldnt wait there the entire day. After 4 or 5 calls all they could tell me was, before 5pm.

As a courier company, your job is to deliver goods, you should have every step of that process managed/monitored efficiently and effectively. But no, not Mr Delivery who are owned by Takealot, all they know is one thing... before 5pm. They dont know, when the driver will leave, if he has left, if he will come back, how many batches he has etc. It's like they launch him out the door and hope for the best (before 5pm). If I asked for the time of day, they would probably tell me Before 5pm.

After all the phone calls and confirmations, I arranged for somebody to wait for the item on wednesday. And do they deliver before 5pm, yes they definately do...... except its on the next day (thursday). I was livid, but what could I do.

Last week, I just called Courier IT for a package I was expecting from Raru. CourierIT were Takealot's courier a few years ago. They were able to tell me when the guy left with the package and that it would arrive by 12pm (and it did). You can even track when the package is loaded into the vehicle. Today I called Fedex Express for a package from Loot and the agent actually called the driver while I was on the line and gave me a timeframe (devlivery between 9:30 and 10:00).

Now this is efficient service and Takealot/Mr Delivery need to strive towards this. Improving your service level will never harm your business, it will enhance it. In the last 2 weeks alone, 2 other co-workers complained of Takealot's service. I understand they are huge now and logistics can be difficult but this looks to be the trend with them these days and there was once a time when they were the best, hands down. I would know as I've been buying from Takealot for over a decade.
