Takealot Black Friday Order Cancellation ****?

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Takealot following a Black Friday purchase. I ordered a TV during the Black Friday sale at approximately 40% off. The order was confirmed immediately, and a delivery date was provided. A few days later, the delivery date was pushed back by two days—something I understood and accepted given the high volumes during the sale period.

However, today I received an email stating that my order had been cancelled due to “unavailability of stock.” This has raised several serious concerns for me:

1) Why was my order confirmed if stock was not secured? When a purchase is confirmed and paid for, I expect that the item has been allocated to my order. It is very frustrating to be told days later that the stock was never available.

2) The product was purchased at a significant discount, and now the prices have returned to normal. Since the cancellation happened after the sale ended, I am now left without the product and without the ability to repurchase it at the same discounted price. This puts me at an unfair disadvantage through no fault of my own.

3) The same TV suddenly reappeared on the app—now at nearly double the price. This is what concerns me most. If the item is “out of stock,” how is it suddenly available again at full price? This raises questions about whether sale orders are being prioritised fairly or whether confirmed discounted orders are being cancelled only to be resold at full price later.

I truly hope this is not the case, but the situation leaves me feeling misled and extremely frustrated. I have always trusted Takealot, but this experience has severely damaged my confidence in the platform. At the very least, I expect Takealot to honour the original price I paid and provide the product I ordered, or offer a fair and reasonable resolution equivalent to the Black Friday deal I secured.

This experience has been incredibly disappointing, and I sincerely hope that Takealot addresses this issue promptly and transparently. I would appreciate a proper explanation and a resolution that reflects the value of the deal I rightfully purchased.
