Takealot becoming more and more *************

At the beginning of Dec 2024, I bought myself a Classic Sleeper couch as I moved into a new place. I fell in love with the look of the couch on Takealot and immediately bought it. It arrived on time, and I was quite impressed as this was the first time I bought furniture from them. The following order, because this one went so smooth ended up with me buying a 55 inch tv and a 6kg front loader. This delivery also went well, and at that time I was quite impressed. The next item on my Christmas wish list was a PS5 and it was in my cart, but then two weeks after I got my couch and on the eve of Christmas, my beautiful couch, broke and I went halfway through the middle of the couch, I heard a tear and the pole poked a hole in the bottom of the couch.

I immediately logged a return and up to then, the return was scheduled very quickly and got picked up by the Takealot team. And then the news that shattered my world, when they declined my return because of user damage. This was strange to me as I explained to them that, at the time I didn't have the couch for more than 3 weeks, and that the inside snapped and poked a hole through the bottom of the couch, a chain of events I had no control over.

The user damage report then came back with loose black stitching in the front of my black leather couch, that deems it user damaged. No attention given to my description of why i returned it, because I would not have gone through the trouble of sitting on the floor in front of my TV if the user damage was so minor.

They returned the couch via DPD Laser, a courier company. The couch was wrapped with plastic wrap and had abuse written all over it. I wish I could post the pictures, but it is so badly scuffed that the material s****ped away and exposed the wood of the couch. Visible dusty/dirt Boot prints all over the back side and sitting area of the couch. Bare in mind that the reason for returning the couch was because there's little to no internal structure to maintain weight and someone felt the need to be a barbaric *** and walk all over the couch. Which I don't think will happen at his house.

It is expected of me as the customer to now be happy with a couch that left my house with internal damage, but returned with worse visible external damage. I have been in a battle with them, but they refuse to take responsibility. This is my second review on the same couch and they haven't even given attention to it. All I got was a threatening email before DPD Laser delivered the now ****ed up couch, stating that if I miss the delivery or refuse to accept it, it will be sent back to their warehouse where it will remain for 30 days, after which it will be disposed off and I will lose my money and the couch.

I am truly disappointed in this company.
