Takealot are *****
I recently spent quite a bit of money on Takealot and with my order I wanted to add 2 more items for delivery at the same time. I ordered and paid 3 separate orders (due to requests from family for gifts I couldn't include everything on the initial order - as you are aware some of the specials are only valid for a certain amount of time, so I could not wait). I asked Takealot if they could deliver the packages together, supp**** the order numbers and selected the same delivery date (one of the orders that date was not available so I selected collect, but emailed them immediately). Following a couple of mails thereafter I received a call (after 8pm in the evening!) notifying me that they can deliver the items at the same time on the Friday and an email confirming this.
In my profession I had to work through the weekend and week and collecting the items was not viable, so I was happy and relieved when I heard the news. On the date of delivery only 1 out of the 3 orders arrived. I received a message that one of the orders was delayed due to a small unimportant item not being in stock and asked them to please deliver the items that they had as I urgently needed one of the items (I offered to collect the outstanding item at a later stage - surely this should be an option as I did not select the delivery date I did for no reason, or they could have offered me a different flavour of the item that they did have available), but to this I received an automated response - not even answering my questions?! The third order was still sitting at the warehouse for collection. After promising me they would deliver it.
I just think that Takealot must not: - make promises they cannot keep - if it weren't for the fact that they personally called me to let me know they were going to deliver the items I would not have been as upset - give you the option of choosing a delivery date if they cannot stick to it - say they have stock of items and then delay deliveries because in actual fact they don't - be inconsiderate of their customers needs - they should actually read emails and not just send automated responses
I do not think it is too much to ask to have your items delivered on time after spending around 5K on their site. Due to their incompetence and inconsiderate behaviour (treating humans like just another number) I lost out on R3000 worth of overtime as I had to get someone to cover my work while I went to collect items (are Takealot going to reimburse me for this or help me get through next month?) On top of that I am still waiting for the order that was actually placed FIRST and is most important to be delivered. As I was expecting the item on Friday I had the delivery address as my work, this means that I will be sitting at work ALL DAY on Christmas Eve hoping for my delivery to arrive by 5pm and will probably be late for my family's Christmas dinner. When other people who probably placed orders after me have already received their orders.
When I was a Kalahari customer I received personalised service and was kept up to date with how requests were progressing. And if they made an error they went out of their way to fix it. They actually cared. But Takealot has become very much like a large government organisation. Pushing through the numbers and not caring about anything else.
Maybe Takealot is just getting too big for themselves to handle and deliver proper customer care.
