Take a Lot do not stand by their warantees

On the 2nd of July I ordered a Playstation remote for a birthday present. The child's 11 birthday was on the 27th July. He visits only every second week and he lives with his dad and visits him mom every second weekend. When he used the remote for the second time it stopped working. We called take a lot and they wanted the order number. we called them back a few days later and were told they cannot help me even though it was advertised with a six month warrantee. We need to contact Playstation directly. I did not buy it from Playstation and do not have any contact details for them. The child is very disappointed as he now has nothing from his birthday present. If I had know that Take A Lot do not stand by their warrantees I would have bought it elsewhere where I know they stand by their guarantees. I am very disappointed with the service I received and would not recommend anyone buying such items from them.
