Shocking service from Takealot
I bought a Dell laptop from Takealot. The machine was defective, and I logged this with Takealot. They collected the laptop. I received system-generated emails telling me that the team is looking into the return, etc. Five days later I became desperate (still without a working laptop) and phoned (had to really scratch around to find a number). Spoke to several people who are apparently managers. During the course of our conversations they realised that Whoops! they never should have collected the laptop from me, because Dell does their own after-sales care. OK, so they sent the laptop back to me. I then spent hours on the phone with Dell, who confirmed that it was a bum machine, and issued me with a credit note to pass on to Takealot. I passed the credit note on to the last person I had corresponded with. Takealot informed me that they would collect the laptop, which they did. And then the system-generated emails started, to tell me that the team was assessing the machine and will let me know what the outcome is soon.... The one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing, and I feel as if I'm stuck in Groundog Day.... No-one takes responsibility, I have a credit note from Dell but no laptop, and no-one is responding to my emails with the credit note attached. It's more than a month later, and I have no laptop, no refund, no joy.
