Shocking Service and ***** suppliers from Takealot
• Bought a xiaomi phone that had an issue reading the SIM. Still under warranty we logged a return to have it sorted out. • After hearing nothing back for 3 weeks we were sent an invoice for repair of charger port and nothing mentioned about SIM reader. There was nothing wrong with the charging port when we had it. • When we queried this, the supplier through takealot , just kept pushing the charger invoice on us claiming water damage and ignored the issue of the SIM reader. • Eventually the supplier rectified the SIM issue but insisted we pay for the charger port repairs and shipping since water damage is not covered under warrant – again, the charger worked perfectly fine when we had it • Since this had now taken several months and we needed the phone back we considered actually paying for the repairs. However, since the supplier or • takealot were not flexible on any charges we then refused and the demanded the phone be returned to us in the condition we sent it, with a working charger. • We received the phone and the charger was in fine working order. No water damage. • This is very concerning as either the supplier fixed it free of charge and no one told us, which would have avoided this entire unpleasant situation. Or the supplier used that as an attempt to void the warranty and push repair and courier costs to us, which would be an act of *****. • I asked takealot what had actually transpired here and my emails have been ignored. • Takealot not only enabled and supported this suspicious behaviour by the supplier, but have since ignored all my emails requesting clarification. • I’m usually a huge supporter of takealot, but this is bitterly disappointing and unfortunately not the first time.
