Shocking customer service
On 23 July 2015 at 8:28 am I placed an order with payment through Takealot reference number *** comprising an ebook and a textbook. The date of delivery quoted on the confirmation email was 30 July 2015 as the textbook, as stated on their site, was in stock and would take 2 working days to deliver. 27 July 16:31pm I received an email from Adele stating my order has been cancelled as the textbook is out of stock and they have credited my takealot account with R545.00 (the price of the textbook). Takealot are lairs who sell products they cannot deliver. They also credit a user's account before enquiring if the user would like a refund for the agreed upon product which they can no longer produce. How dare this company take my money under false pretences and the nerve to credit my user account before asking me my preference is arrogant and disconcerting. This disgruntled customer will not be spending her money with these *****.
The last thing we want is for you to feel that you don't have a say in what happens with your order or payment and apologise for the way in which this situation was handled. At this time we can only assume your account was credited immediately when it became apparent that we aren't able to supply the book so that you don't feel left out of pocket with no book & us sitting with your payment. Even though this would've been done with the best of intentions, we realise that by not informing you beforehand it has created unnecessary confusion and uncer*****y.
It shouldn't be a problem to convert your credits into a refund and we'll instruct our complaints team to contact you in the morning to assist with this. They'll also address the manner in which this was dealt with with the responsible parties and provide the necessary coaching on how better to handle such situations in future.
Sincerely,
