SHIPPING & PACKING NIGHTMARE with TAKEALOT!
I ordered a very expensive LEGO SET,& even though it was packed in a brown cardboard TAKEALOT Shipping box,the box of the LEGO Set itself was slightly damaged. So I requested a replacement. Which,& here's where the fun begins, instead of simply being sent from their JHB Warehouse to me in Vereeniging, some 100 KM or so away, some genius decided to send it all the way from their JHB Warehouse to their Cape Town Warehouse, despite the fact that it was already in stock at their Cape Town Warehouse, incurring a whole lot of wasted time, money, courier fees, etc. Then, someone I've never heard of,signed for & accepted my package. Followed by someone (other than myself) filling out a Return Request, stating that the Item is no longer wanted,& a Credit requested. When I called them to find out just what the hell's going on,I was told that they would have to investigate & get back to me. However,a Replacement Order was issued. Then I noticed that they are demanding almost R800 from me for the Replacement Order (the difference in price between the normal price & the Daily Deals price at which I got it). So I did nothing & just waited, Eventually, that sorted itself out. & here's where the nightmare really begins! The Replacement Set is sent to me WITHOUT ANY SHIPPING BOX,ONLY WRAPPED IN PLASTIC!!! As a result,& from all the hands directly & roughly handling it,it arrived ALL SQUASHED AND WRINKLED! - It didn't even look new at all! So I placed a new order, hoping that maybe that 1 would be in decent condition,so I could at least have 1 set in good condition, the other to be sent back. The new order, once again, sent out only wrapped in plastic, again delivered to me in awful condition. So again,I call to complain. The damaged Item, from the new order, will be collected, while simultaneously being replaced. Yet AGAIN,the replacement is delivered only wrapped in plastic,& in absolutely c r a p p y condition! 4 out of 4 Sets (not counting the 1 that went on holiday to Cape Town),ALL SENT TO ME IN ABHORRENT CONDITION - 1 even had a small hole & tear on it!!! (Ironically, the 1st original set, although slightly damaged, was BY FAR in the best condition of all the 4!). Now,maybe a kid won't mind the box all bent & squashed to hell, but for a serious adult collector,it is totally unacceptable! I wouldn't even give a 2nd look to a piece of garbage like that if I saw it on an actual shelf,so why the hell should I be willing to make any exception just because it's an Online Store? & I can tell you this much,no self respecting toy or retail store who gives a damn about their reputation, would EVER stock garbage in that condition on their shelves to begin with,& if they had any such damaged stock, surely wouldn't expect to get anyone to pay the normal price for it! You'de think I'de have learnt my lesson by now, because they put me through the exact same c r a p earlier this year, when I ordered several "STAR TREK" Plastic Model Kits from them! ALL 4 DAMAGED SETS are going straight back to TAKEALOT for a FULL REFUND!!! That's the LAST TIME I buy anything like this from TAKEALOT! I will rather go & waste my money at the LEGO STORE,where at least I know I will be getting what I pay for! As for sending out my Orders wrapped only in plastic,if their concern is,not wasting shipping boxes, well then, let me give you a PERFECT example of wastage! My last SUPERBALIST (now owned by TAKEALOT) Order, which consisted of 7 small or even tiny items, was sent out in 4 separate boxes, all sent out at the same time, from the same place! 1 tiny tie clip, all by it's lonesome,in a huge box! 1 small bow tie,by itself,in another huge box! 2 other tiny tie clips,in yet another huge box! 2 more small bow ties & a small bag,in the last huge box! Despite ALL 7 Items comfortably fitting in one single box, without crowding each other, with enough brown paper padding,& still enough room left over!!! Now if that's not wasting, then what is? A few months ago,I came across an article entitled something like: - "TAKEALOT will be profitable in 2 years". Well,I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but not at the rate at which you're going, when your warehouse staff have NO CLUE how to properly pack & ship out these delicate Items,& literally treat them like garbage! (Or was your stock in that condition to begin with???) To TAKEALOT: - I STRONGLY suggest that you stop selling large LEGO Sets & Model Kits untill your warehouse staff get a rigorous course in just exactly how to handle these delicate collectors items, specifically when it comes to packing them for shipping! & stop putting customers like me through all this added stress!!!
