'Santa' will be late

<p>Takealot's advertising campaign this season has seen it likening itself to Santa - guaranteeing that gifts will be delivered in time to be placed under the tree. Unfortunately,this is not the case.</p> <p> </p> <p>On the 3rd December I ordered an item from my son's Christmas list from Takealot. I believed that this allowed more than enough time for delivery to take place and for the item to be wrapped and ready for Christmas morning. I checked with Takealot's 'will it be here by Christmas' and confirmed that this was the case. When the item was ordered, the delivery date was given as the 19th December. </p> <p> </p> <p>On the 18th, I realised that had not heard from Takealot regarding the delivery and sent through an e-mail confirming that delivery would take place on the said date. On the 19th I was informed that the delivery had bee delayed by 3-5 days. I explained that the item is a Christmas gift and so delivery must take place beforehand. I was told that they were trying their best. </p> <p> </p> <p>I have since sent numerous emails asking for updates regarding delivery to which I have received no response. Today I called the call centre and was informed that the item has not yet been dispatched and will not be here by Christmas -a detail I would not be aware of had not been persistent I following up. </p> <p> </p> <p>I find the lack of communication and total lack of concern displayed by Takealot totally unacceptable. Customers need to be treated with more respect and consideration if they are to remain loyal. I use Takelot frequently and have found that more and more often items are delayed or do not arrive at all. I no longer trust in the reliability and integrity of their service. </p> <p> </p> <p>As the item in question is difficult to source, it will now not be possible for it to be under the tree on Christmas rning when my son wakes up. Takealot has definitely not fulfilled its Christmas promise. </p>
