Returns process is tedious and *************

I ordered a Mecer tablet in July for my child to use for online learning, the tablet worked fine until this month when we switched it on it would present us with a blank screen and what seemed to be an internal issue with the display of the tablet. I lodged a return online and got confirmation of its arrival at the warehouse almost 5 days later, I was then emailed and told that my tablet falls under the 6 month warranty policy and is eligible for a repair but that I should wait for 3 days max for an outcome on whether it can be fixed or whether I would get a refund. A further 5 days or so passed and I was not getting an email regarding my tablet only for the courier company to call me today to return my tablet back to me and it was labeled that it was declined for a repair or refund. FYI I did not get any sms or email that the tablet would be returning back to me today, I also received no communication as to why my return was declined. I had to take it upon myself to write an email asking them why it was declined since they were not answering the customer service line, for almost 30 minutes it just rang until my airtime ran out. I was told that my tablet was declined due to physical damage which is not true because I would assume physical damage means a crack, broken screen or broken cover but the damage was internal as the screen was blank. I don't understand why I have to chase after them for an explanation as a customer and why they don't practice what they write on their returns policy. Now I have to go up and down trying to have it fixed by myself wherelse I am under warranty with takealot. I am never buying any electronics from takealot ever again, I have been a loyal customer but I feel let down. I will also let all my friends and family know not to ever order any electronics from takealot cos their returns policy sucks.
