Returned item damaged by Takealot couriers
On 1 April 2016 I logged a return on [URL Removed] for a Morphy Richards kettle that seemed to have electronic issues. The kettle was still under warranty and I had no doubt that the item will be credited or replaced. [URL Removed] arranged for couriers to pickup the parcel.
The kettle, base plate and booklet was neatly packed in a box, and secured with scrunched up paper.
A few days later I received a brief e-mail from [URL Removed] stating that the return was declined, due to package arriving at their warehouse in pieces. I was reminded that it is my responsibility to read on the website what the process entails, and that the matter is seen as closed. When stating that it cannot be seen as my fault that the couriers instructed by takealot possibly threw the box around, I was only constantly reminded of the explicit instructions on their website to \secure\" the parcel. No info was given on what is seen as \"secure\". Their lack of effort in ensuring that their customer is given the proper benefit of the doubt was insulting, especially after having been an avid takealot supporter. This definitely means the end of that support. I guess money talks louder than keeping customers happy."
