Return service not acceptable

I bought any a light on the 29rh of January. The item was delivered on the 7th of January. Upon opening the package I discovered the light had the charger only and the whole ring of lights wasn’t in there. I quickly called Takealot and they asked for return. I got return message with reference number . On Tuesday the 9th a guy by the name Blessing from Takealot picked it up from my **** . But as soon as he picked I still got a message that someone will come pick up the item. I called takealot abs told them Blessing had picked up item and also his number which I had at that time . For the next two weeks I still got sms someone will pick up item , no matter how many times I called the warehouse and also told the delivery guys that the item was picked no one listened.

I was then eventually told that the item wasn’t received by takealot and there is no proof that the item was picked which I found funny considering when it was picked up I called the warehouse and told them the name and phone number which by the time they requested the number again I had lost.

Not sure if that’s how they work now but I am just frustrated that no one seems to toe responsibility of this mix up.
