Refused return of broken, R22,000, 75" LG TV - Boycott TAL!

I ordered an LG, 75" TV from TAL. When it arrived, the screen was broken and the TV had clearly been re-packaged and was inserted into the protective plastic moulding the wrong way around, very likely resulting in the breakage. Apparently their policy is that the breakage must be reported within 7 days. I was out of the country at work at the time and only my wife was home. She was not strong enough to move the box around to get into it, so she had to wait for her son to come and assist- that was on day 11, post delivery. Now 7 days or not, given the circumstances, and the fact that the TV very likely could have been broken before TAL ever got it, since it had been re-packaged, TAL should have been flexible enough not to deny our return on the item. They currently have the TV in their warehouse and there is no point in me taking the broken one back. If TAL wind up responding favourably, I will write a favourable follow-up to this complaint. In this case, circumstances should definitely be considered. If they do not, I will absolutely roast them on every social media platform I can. They have given me good service in the past, and were flexible on one occasion. This is a big ticket item and the circumstances of why the box was not openned on time are clear, as well as the likelihood that the TV was shipped to TAL already damaged, and not damaged in transit to us.

After much arm twisting, TAL did wind up refunding me for the TV.
