Refusal to replace damaged item

I recently ordered a full-length Mirror and Jewellery cabinet (White) sold on Takealot.com's DAILY DEALS.

I received the item on 01/02/2017, realised it was damaged and logged the return on 02/02/2017. When the return was logged, I specifically requested a replacement.

The item was collected on 03/02/2017 and I received no further communication. On 06/02/2017 I received an email stating that my Takealot account has been credited with the amount paid.

When I contacted Takealot to query why I was credited instead of offered a replacement, 1 person said that it was because the stock was finished and another said because replacements/exchanges are only allowed on clothing items.

After numerous emails, Takealot (Tashreeqah Dreyer) confirmed that I was not offered a replacement because the supplier, IP68 was out of stock. I checked their website and found that the same item was available in brown and according to the website, was also supp**** by IP68.

I made the Takealot agent (Tashreeqah Dreyer) aware of the fact that the Takealot website indicates that both items are supp**** by IP68, but she just refuses to settle this matter as per my request for a replacement.

I know that there is a big difference in price of what it was sold for when I purchased it and what it is being sold for now. And that is why Takealot or the supplier is making excuses to not replace the item.

I purchased an item in good faith and Takealot is refusing to honour their side of the transaction.
