Public complaint, FAST RESPONSE

I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned iPhone 12 Mini from Takealot (Order number: ***).

Upon attempting to use the device, it displayed “iPhone Unavailable” and would not allow access. I then took the phone to the iPhone/iStore at Eastgate Mall to have it wiped and restored. I was charged R300 for this service, however the phone still did not accept the passcode the following day and remained unusable.

I then attempted to return the phone to Takealot, but my request was declined because the device is marked as non-returnable, despite the fact that it was unusable from the start.

After this, I returned to iStore for further assistance, where I was informed that they cannot assist without an official invoice showing the IMEI number and serial number of the device.

I contacted Takealot multiple times, requesting that they contact the supplier (Certified Pre-Owned) and provide me with an invoice or official document including the IMEI and serial number, which is essential to resolve the “iPhone Unavailable” issue. Despite this, Takealot has failed and refused to provide the required information, giving inconsistent explanations and no resolution.

As a result: I have an unusable phone I have incurred additional costs I cannot repair, unlock, or verify the device I am being denied a return despite the phone being defective/unusable

I did not enjoy this phone at all, and I feel that I am being taken for a ride. I no longer want this device.

Resolution requested I am formally requesting: A full refund, OR Immediate provision of an official invoice with IMEI and serial number, failing which a refund must be issued

This matter has caused unnecessary stress, inconvenience, and financial loss, and I believe it is unfair and contrary to consumer protection principles.
