POOR SERVICE

On 23 July I ordered 8 items from Takealot. When submitting my order, I was informed that delivery will be on 24 July. On Tue 2015/06/30 09:24 I followed up as nothing has been delivered. I was merely informed they will follow up with the supplier. I kept following up as they did not inform me there are some items that has been delayed. When phoning I was informed that 2 of the items are out of stock (this was not indicated when I ordered). I arranged for the 6 items in stock to be delivered on 1 July. Following up on the 2 remaining items on 2 July, I was informed that the delivery date has been moved to 27 July. When opting for a refund and to cancel the 2 items not delivered yet, I was informed I will have to pay import costs. I sent an e-mail on 6 July saying I will not pay the import costs. If they themselves have not received the items from the supplier why am I supposed to pay for the import costs? They can cancel from the supplier then. The last person I spoke with is Judith Kiewitz and she did not get back to me even though I sent two e-mails on 6 & 7 July requesting not to pay the import costs and to have the money refunded for the two items. This is beyond poor service.

Hello LIZETTEBOSCH,

We're sorry for the frustration you've experienced with this order and believe this to be a case of miscommunication. Looking at the original order confirmation e-mail we sent the promised delivery date was for 24 July, if payment was received immediately. Payment was made via deposit for which payment only reflected the following morning and the delivery date was then extended to 27 July. The reason for the longer delivery date is due to the one book being ordered from our UK supplier. This has a 15 to 20 working day lead time to allow for the book to be shipped from abroad and is also stated on the product listing.

The agent that originally assisted you should've explained that the import item isn't stocked in our warehouse, but gets imported from the supplier, rather than saying it is out of stock. We're sorry for the confusion and frustration this has caused and will coach the agent on how to better deal with situations like this in future.

We've received your refund request and our complaints team will be in touch to confirm as soon as it's been processed.

Sincerely,
