Poor return policies

Very disappointed in Takealot. I ordered a Toy for my son on special which I checked every day for the special price so that I could buy it for him as a Christmas present. When he started building the set, there was one piece broken. I sent the toy back and requested a Replacement for the toy. Instead Takealot credited the money into my account, which means I now have to buy the toy again at a more expensive amount than I bought it for originally. Thus my son is still without his Christmas present because I now have to wait for it to eventually be on special before I can purchase it again. Why do I have to pay more now than I originally paid when I received a broken toy in the first place?
