Poor customer service experience. Am steering clear of Takealot on principle.
Not about the money, it's not a lot, but on principle. I ordered an Intex USB quick fill pump, along with an inflatable mattress & some nappies (nappies were on sale, discounted). The USB pump arrived, not functioning properly, missing parts & clearly used... great job there... so I returned the pump for a refund to my card.
Refund came R100 short... strange, but I figured Takealot will pick it up before I have to notify them. Close to a week later, I get issued a coupon that expires in 3 weeks from date of issue for R100...
So, I query this obvious no-no. I then get told basically "meh, deal with it, you used a coupon, we refund you a coupon..."
Remember the discounted nappies? Discounted. For R100. I used no coupon... But I get told it's clearly reflected on the invoice. Which it is not. The "discount" is on an invoice for the nappies, and wouldn't you know, there is absolutely no coupon reflected on a separate invoice for the pump.
So Takealot customer service via email & X, have essentially told me: "Hey if you buy through us, we'll send you used & defective goods, and when you return it, we'll give you an expirable coupon that if you don't use, you lose, and not even a 6 month option, like 3 weeks is all you'll get. Sucker."
Not even an apology. Well, that's not true, I did get one of those "we're so sorry we won't help you" apologies.
Nice.
