Pathetic after sales service, I mean non existing - Thanks Takealot

We purchased a Singer Steam Iron Press for over R 7500 and it worked for 20 minutes and then we notised it had a crack in the housing, we packaged the item and returned to Takealot expecting a replacement unit, they sent an email to say that the returns policy is not valid because we started using the product after 7 days of shipment. I told them the unit needs replacement under warrantee and they said they would revert. The faulty unit was just delivered to us without any communication. So what now, do I have to contact the supplier myself regarding the warrantee?? I thought after making your money you would have offered some sort of service. Very disgusted and really considering never buying through Take a lot again.
