Package not delivered but system claims that it was
I ordered a package from Takealot on 16 December, and the package was scheduled to be delivered on 28 December. Due to the size of the package, I had to make use of the DPD Laser courier service and also paid a surcharge for this service. On 28 December, despite the package not being delivered to me, the Takealot website was updated to show that the package had been delivered. This means that the package was either lost, ******, or delivered to the wrong address, as I did not receive it. As the delivery address is a private home, there is no excuse for delivering the package to the wrong address. Additionally, as I did not sign for the package (having not received it), if the package was indeed delivered to the wrong address the courier did not bother to verify the identify of the recipient and would therefore be negligent in this case.
When I tried to contact someone via telephone to enquire about this, I could not find anyone. The contact numbers for the couriers were either a dead end or were not answered, and Takealot chose to completely deactivate their phone numbers. Additionally, when I tried to find an email address to use to contact Takealot, I could not find anything on their website. Their phone message indicated that I should use their "help form", but this form does not work. Hellopeter is seemingly my only way to contact Takealot's customer service.
I seriously doubt that I will be using Takealot for large orders in the future, as I have yet to have an issue with their in-house delivery team.
