Not honoring price advertised
On Thursday, 26 November 2015 I purchased a Dell Venue 8inch tablet 32 GB for R999 on [URL Removed] website. I paid cash, via debit card for the device. At the time of purchase the item showed as in stock. I even followed up the purchase with a phone call to ensure that the payment reached takealot. Later in that day I checked the site again and the link from my purchase to the device showed an increased price to R2999. On Monday 30 November I received an e-mail from [URL Removed] saying that the device is out of stock, but the device is still being advertised on the site as in stock at R2599. To make things worse Takealot just credited my takealot account with R999 instead of consulting me on whether I would like the funds paid back into my account or a credit. I am furious, because at any other retailer the advertised price needs to be honoured. What infuriated me more is the fact that I paid for the device and after 2 working days Takelot just decides to say it is out of stock in order to get out of supplying the device. please see link [URL Removed] that reflects item in stock! I want Takealot to honor my purchase!
We're sorry for the poor manner in which this matter was handled. The least we should have done was to contact you to inform you about the developments in order to discuss the best way to proceed with your order. We've instructed our complaints team to address this accordingly with the relevant department as this level of service is unacceptable.
As discussed with your complaints team we're checking with the relevant product buyer on the specs of the item you ordered versus that of the one currently available on the site. Our team will be in touch with you again as soon as they've received feedback.
We're sorry for the frustration this situation has caused you and will do our best to find a suitable solution soonest to turn this experience around with you.
Sincerely,
