No product quality control | Selling outdated junk products

In November 2020 I purchased a refurbished laptop on Takealot.com. Seven months later the laptop was unusable. Battery completely fried, software and system so slow that you cannot complete simple tasks, have to apply pressure for the mouse pad buttons to register etc. I took the laptop to a specialist to assess the damages and quote me on repairs. He advised me that this laptop is 9 years old, and it is not worth it to spend a single cent on repairs. He was further shocked when he found out that I had purchased the laptop only 7 months ago, and on Takealot. I sent a 'return request' to Takealot, which was declined the same day. I then contacted their call center and explained that I was heavily misinformed as to what I am purchasing. Had I known that this was an antique laptop, I certainly will not have made the purchase, therefore I feel that I was misinformed and led on to purchase junk. I asked the call center agent to please escalate this to senior management, as I find it unacceptable that Takealot does not have any product quality control, therefore I should be refunded or credited in full. I have sent multiple follow-up emails regarding my query and I have not had a single response. After being a loyal customer for sometime and having spent a fair amount of money on Takealot, I no longer feel comfortable to spend money on an online platform that has NO product quality control and no customer service. I feel that I was ****med into purchasing junk, and I urge people to be extra careful not to make the same mistake.
