My R4000 Purchase at Risk Due to Takealot's Defective TV Handling

I am writing to formally address an ongoing issue regarding the TV I purchased from your store, which was delivered on July 27, 2024. Unfortunately, I encountered several problems with the TV and have been struggling to resolve them satisfactorily.

Upon initial setup, I discovered that the remote control was defective. It only functioned intermittently when positioned at a very specific angle, making it almost unusable. Despite replacing the batteries, the issue persisted. Additionally, I faced problems with logging into Netflix, and the DSTV service installation also failed to work.

Given these issues, I returned the TV on July 29, 2024. However, my return request was rejected because I no longer had the original packaging. I understand that the packaging is part of the return policy, but the TV itself is defective, and the packaging was discarded due to my trust in the product's quality.

On August 6, 2024, I spoke with Sizakele M from customer service, who advised that the matter would be escalated. Despite this, I continued to face difficulties, including dropped calls and unhelpful responses. I received an email from Fayzel S at 13:19 on August 14, 2024, stating that if I did not want the defective TV returned, it would be considered abandoned and disposed of. This is unacceptable, especially considering the R4000.00 I spent on this purchase.

Following this, I called customer service again and spoke with Mubasen N, who escalated the issue further to locate whether the TV was still with the courier or back at the warehouse. At 06:41 on August 15, 2024, I received a call from the courier wanting to deliver the defective TV. I requested that the courier return the TV to the warehouse instead.

To resolve this issue, I request the following options:

A replacement TV of equal or better quality from your store. Alternatively, if the defective TV cannot be exchanged, I am willing to pay the difference to upgrade to a TV from a reputable brand, and I expect a prompt resolution.

I urge you to address this issue promptly. The ongoing delays and the threat of disposing of a product that does not meet quality standards are unacceptable. I look forward to your swift response to resolve this matter satisfactorily.
