MISLEADING SPECIALS AND ****S!

Title: Misleading “Huge Special”, Money Taken, Then Order Cancelled – Unacceptable I had a very disappointing experience with Takealot that I believe is misleading to consumers. I purchased items that were advertised as a huge special on their platform. The promotion was presented in a way that clearly suggested a legitimate bargain, and based on that representation, I placed an order worth over R6,000. Payment was accepted, I received an invoice/order confirmation, and I was given a delivery date. Takealot then kept my money for approximately one week, during which time I could not use those funds for other purchases or promotions. Only after this delay was I informed that the order was cancelled due to a “pricing error” and that I would be refunded. From a customer’s perspective, this is extremely frustrating and misleading. If a company advertises items as a major special, accepts payment, and confirms the order, the customer should not be penalised for the company’s internal mistakes. Holding a customer’s money and then cancelling later feels less like an error and more like a marketing gimmick that wastes consumers’ time and money. I believe large retailers like Takealot should be held accountable for how they advertise specials and how they handle paid orders. This experience has seriously damaged my trust in their promotions and overall reliability. Very disappointing service from a company that claims to be customer-focused.
