LED TV return damaged

For the first time since being with Takealot have I experienced such unprofessional service on a returned product.

It is not in my nature to lodge this complaint but rather advise others to be aware of the scenario experienced.

i would like to believe i am a decent client of Takealot wherein just for Jan and Feb 2017 i spent over R50k, so clearly my gripe is not about wanting a reprieve or an easy way out by any means.

I purchased a LED TV under a year ago. Just recently the HDMI port seem to be problematic from advise of my installer and hence we logged a call to Takealot to collect for a repair. We bubbled wrapped the unit best as possible . Takealot collected the unit for repair or replacement. To our dismay and absolute shock and horror we received the TV unit back today in an utterly damaged state back to ourselves. The screen is cracked, scratches etc. And apparently it was not repaired or looked at and rejected because of the damage incurred apparently by us. Really, what an insult to accuse us of sending a damged screen and tattered product in order for an HDMI repair. We could not believe this was our unit. We have logged this call and await their response, however we have been "advised" by the Teleconsultant that this will be and up and down scenario and would need to prove that the damaged wss not prior to us sending it.

So it seems from mere HDMI port that was not functioning i now have a unit that is totally irreparable.

i just purchased 3 laptops recently from Takealot, my advice to all is rather purchase from the reputable stores wherein it would be easier to deal with issues than what it seems i may be currently faced with, especially with electronics items. Sometimes that is where the face to face interaction assists.

Surely Takealot need to revisit with an item checklist when collecting items of this nature . The items passes through so many hands how can the customer solely be responsible for the transit when it leave his premise in a good condition. A real gap in your return policy to be closed is required

The response I receive will determine my future dealing with Takealot and will keep all informed.

Confidence restored. It seemed sanity prevailed and the unit is to be credited
