AKEALOT FAILED TO HONOUR MY DRIVER ONBOARDING APPOINTMENT AND SENT ME TO THE BACK OF THE QUEUE
I submitted my Takealot driver application on 22 March 2026. After waiting for my application to progress, KTA Service confirmed my branch onboarding appointment for 17 June 2026 at 10:00 at 57 Lavender Road West, Annlin West, Pretoria.
I attended the appointment as instructed. When I arrived, I was told that the staff member responsible for my onboarding was off sick. I understand that people become ill, but nobody notified me before I travelled to the branch. My appointment was never formally cancelled or rescheduled, and Takealot/KTA Service never contacted me afterwards.
I returned to the branch last week to follow up. The staff member did not apologise or explain why I had never been contacted. I was simply told to return in October.
This is extremely unfair. I had already progressed through the application process and received a confirmed onboarding appointment. The session failed because the responsible employee was unavailable—not because I missed or postponed it.
I should not be moved to the back of the queue because Takealot or its onboarding administrator failed to cancel and reschedule my appointment.
I am not accusing anyone of deliberately giving my position to another applicant. However, I am entitled to ask what happened to my original place and why applicants affected by an internal staffing problem are not given priority replacement appointments.
I request that Takealot:
1. Investigate what happened to my confirmed appointment; 2. Confirm how my attendance was recorded; 3. Explain why nobody contacted me to reschedule; 4. Restore the position I held before the failed appointment; and 5. Give me the earliest available priority onboarding date instead of making me wait until October.
I have proof of the confirmed appointment. I want Takealot management—not merely the same branch employee—to investigate and provide a fair resolution.
