Item exchanging

I just don't know why takealot doesn't have a better item exchange process. I have to wait until the items ship just to cancel it and just to exchange items. Why can I not contact the seller or why cant takealot just change the order for the buyers before all the shipping and waiting has been done. I mean really takealot, get with the program, we living in 2022.
