Issues with delivery to Pretoria CBD

I am not impressed at all with Takealot’s deliveries to Pretoria City Centre.

Today I received a call from the driver who wanted to know whether I can arrange parking for him because he did not know where to park. When I rep**** that I cannot arrange parking and that he must find his own parking he rep**** that this is a problem because he does not want to park his vehicle in the street. He then told me that he would phone me back and a minute later I received an SMS from Takealot that they could not deliver my order. This is absolute nonsense.

I went out to the street to try and meet the driver and was informed by him that none of the drivers want to deliver in Pretoria CBD because of the ‘parking issue’ and because Takealot ‘forces’ the drivers to use their own vehicles. When I indicated that this is not my problem, the driver responded that I must lodge a complaint.

The order was eventually delivered.

This is the third time I have had issues with delivery in Pretoria CBD. On the previous occasion I had no alternative than to carry my own order to my office (which is on the 10th floor) as the driver simply would not leave his vehicle and had the same story about the issues between Takealot and the drivers.

If there is an issue with delivery with orders in the CBD then Takealot should say so. I missed an appointment with a client in the process of trying to sort out this ‘parking issue’. There is ample parking in Pretoria CBD. I pointed out a parking area right across the street from our building but the drivers apparently do not want to make use of paid parking. I even offered to stand by the driver’s vehicle so that he could deliver the order but this was apparently not acceptable to him.

On this occasion the driver was friendly and polite but on the previous two occasions I had the added difficulty of dealing with a driver who was rude and agitated.

I could not find a single telephone number or email address to contact Takealot on to lodge my complaint. This is truly unacceptable.
