Is Takealot beyond the CPA?
Not too long ago I had a bad experience with Takealot. I'd like to mention that they can deliver good service, but the specific thing I've noticed is very concerning.
I purchased an item on the Takealot app, at a price I perceived as a discounted price. Ordered the weekend and was hoping for a delivery on the Monday, but ended up getting an email on the Friday to state that the items I've ordered was cancelled due to incorrect pricing and the supplier is out of stock.
Firstly this isn't the first cancellation I've had. After this, I've done some investigation and noticed one item I purchased at R6 and it was cancelled and placed under 'out of stock'. The item is now available at R129 after a certain period of time. A similar event happened with the latest cancelled item.
Secondly I've noticed that even though they've cancelled an item, you do not get a full refund on that item.
I've done numerous attempts to get the item and also asked for the supplier, but no luck. I don't understand why Takealot is not held liable by the laws of the CPA, at which they have to sell you the product at the price it was advertised and paid for.
