Incorrectly priced, then mysteriously 'out of stock'... and now an incorrect credit.
On 27 April, I placed an order with Takealot for, among other things, the Redragon - WaveImpact 4in1 Gaming Combo (PC) that I have been after for some time. It was advertised at just R199 - down from a usual price of over R700, a hefty discount that is not uncommon to see at Takealot.
A few days after ordering, I was informed that the item was being cancelled from my order because Takealot had advertised it at an incorrect price. When I sent an email about this stating that under the consumer laws laid out in our South African constitution, Takealot should legally be the one to take the fall for their own pricing error and give me the product at the advertised price... they changed the story, and told me that the product had suddenly gone out of stock, and that they would credit me IN FULL the R199 into my Takealot account for a future purchase.
I placed another order today... to find that I had been credited an incorrect amount of R194 instead of R199. In any other case I would not have a problem with this, but I absolutely do not feel that I should have had to lose a cent of my own money towards this incompetence and, frankly, a violation of consumer laws and my own consumer rights.
I have spent the credit on my most recent order, but wanted to express that I am *extremely* disappointed in Takealot and feel like I deserve an explanation and some form of compensation for my inconvenience. The product I purchased at the original price of R199 (or for free) would be a good start to win back a loyal customer who has put up with MANY disappointments at your hands over the years.
