Incorrect Lego set inside box

I have purchased a Lego Marvel The Eternals in Arishem’s shadow (76155) online through Takealot. This was a Christmas present for my son. On opening the gift on Christmas Eve, the incorrect product was inside the box. A completely different set of Lego’s was inside the box. My son was looking forward to his Christmas gift and was extremely disappointed to find the wrong product inside. This was supposed to be an original Lego product (price of product was similar to that in the Lego Store), so how did this product pass the rigorous quality standards?

In addition, on returning the product to the Takealot Warehouse on 26 Dec 2021, no apology was given. The person whom served me made me feel like I was at fault. On 27 Dec 2021 my Takealot profile still shows “Awaiting product for evaluation” even though I have returned it to the Takealot Warehouse. I have contacted Takealot via email to follow up and was initially given a generic response, even though I have explained my problem in detail. I’ve responded to this mail again and was informed that the person will escalate my query to the relevant department . I am extremely frustrated with the product purchased through and service received from Takealot.

Reviewer Update
With reference to my previous Takealot complaint.
On 29 Dec 2021 when logging onto my Takealot profile, under the returns section it showed that the return (Lego set) was declined after product evaluation and that I will receive an email explaining the reason. I have not received the email and decided to contact Takealot telephonically. The reason for declining my return was given as not falling within the 7 day return timeframe. This is absurd and impractical. This was a Xmas gift that was purchased end Nov 2021 and opened on 25 Dec 2021. On opening the box (the Lego box), my son realised that the item inside the box was not was indicated on the box and what we’ve ordered. So how was I supposed to open the box within 7 days of receiving it if it was a Xmas gift? This is unrealistic!

It leaves me with the following questions:
1. Was I expected to check whether the correct item was inside the Lego box by opening the box? Referring to the Lego set box.
2. Why was my return eligibility confirmed on the App, and my item accepted at the Takealot Warehouse, only to be informed that Takealot cannot proceed with the return since it is more than 7 days since the order was placed.
3. Why is all this my fault when quality control was not done to ensure that correct product was inside box?
