Incorrect Item Received TWICE and Unjust Delivery Surcharge
It is wonderful to see the success of a company with humble beginnings through Take2 and locally, the merger with Kalahari.com, which grew to a gigantic success, however, it is sad that it has completely and utterly discarded the human touch.
I feel like I am writing to Santa in the North Pole and I trust that magic will have this delivered to the right Santa – One that might just care enough to put measures in place to stop this type of poor service delivery in its tracks – It is regrettably impossible to trace an email address of customer care or speak to an actual person at Takealot on the Takealot platform.
I am sharing my thoughts and experience with the hope that it might make a difference and to express my frustration and disappointment with my recent order.
I ordered a ride-on toy as a Christmas gift for my 3-year-old grandson but encountered several issues:
1. Delivery Surcharge: I was charged an additional R200 due to the weight or bulkiness of the order. Upon receiving the parcel, I was shocked to find it was smaller than some boxes from previous orders. The parcel weighed less than 2kg, which seems inconsistent with the reason for the surcharge. 2. Product Discrepancy: The ride-on toy received did not resemble the picture on the website. This discrepancy was highly disappointing, as I had specific expectations based on the product images provided.
As a family of loyal Takealot supporters, we all agreed that better service and product accuracy were expected.
In the meantime, the matter was supposedly resolved by requesting the collection of the incorrect product, which then led to more frustration with a refund as apparently, the item was no longer available (according to the website, this item is still available at the time of writing this review).
I subsequently forfeited the R 200 spent on a surcharge for the delivery (which was unjust in the first place). I then traced a very similar scooter, ordered it again and once again the incorrect scooter was delivered. This time, we received the scooter with pictures of skulls. I showed the scooter to my son, who agreed that it is not ideal for a 3-year-old boy, and we decided that we would have a sticker made to then cover the sculls after the festive season.
After wrapping the present last night, I felt that I could not just leave this, and need to speak out as Takealot management or other customers, have the right to know of this experience.
