*********** and Unwilling to Rectify Their Mistakes
So I bought a laptop valued at R27 235 through Takealot during BlackFriday with vouchers to the vlaue of R18 999 (specifically purchased for the use of this purchase).
After a month or so the laptop started having some driver compatibility issues and the manufacturer suggested a take the laptop to a service center. (If I knew Takealot would me things up this bad, I would have just taken the laptop in myself).
I logged a Return and specifically stated I want the laptop repaired and not exchanged as I knew there no stock left. Pick up was schedule for 10 January, but I had to reschedule to the 15th as I would not be home to write the necessary RRN numbers on the box. Reschedule was confirmed through email, but the courier still managed to pick it up on the 10th.
After a few days of not receiving any feedback, I phoned and the lady told me the laptop was sent to JHB warehouse and they are waiting for it to reach the CPT warehouse. This was a bit weird as I am situated in CPT.
A few days later a receive a email stating my pick-up date has been schedule for the following day. I phoned Takealot and asked how they wanted to pick up the laptop if it has already been picked up. They were going to look into it a get back to me.
A few days later again, and I receive a email "Sorry, but the courier lost the laptop. Here is your credits" How do you lose a laptop?!? I have emailed Takealot the past two weeks to rectify the problem and does not look like they have a manager as my request for their details have not been met.
Its a simple concept, you made an error, now fix it. Either replace the laptop with one of similar specs, or pay me back my money (and not in the form of credits and vouchers.).
My next step will be to lodge a complaint with the Consumer Goods And Services Ombud, so they can take the matter further.
Regards, Scholtz
