I spent over R20 000 on Takealot and TakealoMORE & they still managed to **** me

Takealot relies on using deliberately vague product descriptions and invoking a "non-returnable" rule to **** vulnerable customers.

I bought a R999 Philips Avent breast pump for R775 (if you're a TakeloMORE Premium subscriber for R100/month) and when it arrived I washed & sterilised it to prepare for use because that's what you do with baby products. It turned out not to work unless it's plugged into a power source on the wall. Which I realised after 3ish days of charging and pumping. I (washed & sterilised it) then returned it to their Richmond DC and the assessor agreed that it posed a safety hazard and confirmed that I'd get my refund within 5-7days. Since then Takealot has; 1) failed to give me a refund or send any kind of update 2) when I finally asked about my refund Siphokuhle.G sent an auto-response mail to say "its non-returnable" so they're sending it back to me. 3) when I protested they said they'd escalate it, only for that person Jade.F, to ask if it's been used and then blue-tick me when I rep**** in the affirmative. I had to see if it works. 4) then out of the blue, still with no response from Jade F., there was a knock on my door and the pump was being returned to me. I refused receipt. AND EMAILED THEM AGAIN begging for a response. 5) They then got a new person Jihad.S to respond (quite condescendingly) and tell me the pump is described as "designed for corded use only" in their product information. 6) I've taken screenshots of both the product page and the description and neither of them says any such thing.

Meanwhile, Takealot has suddenly made the product R710 (without having to pay a TakelotMORE premium subscription.

They clearly know they've acted in bad faith and have now scrambled to price the product according to what they claim is how it's designed.

The worst part? TAKEALOT CURRENTLY HAS BOTH MY MONEY AND THE PUMP and they are simply refusing to refund me even though they are in the wrong.

So my infant and I can either make peace with being electrocuted in the event of a power surge happening while I'm pumping, or say goodbye to R775 which I could at least use to buy him formula.
