How does Takalot still exist?
I ordered a new Samsung Galaxy S24 advertised at R15725 on Takalot. They received my order, then asked me to provide a copy of my ID and credit card number (card number already given during the order) within 72 hours otherwise the order would be cancelled. I didn’t get to see the email until the next day when they sent a reminder that unless said info was received by end of business that day, the order would be cancelled…that’s 24 hours earlier than originally stated. I got the impression perhaps they realised the phone was advertised at a loo low price and trying to wiggle out of the deal. I promptly sent all docs, they responded saying it’s processed, bank phoned and authorization was done. The very next day, I receive an email stating the order is cancelled due to no stock availability. On my profile I noticed they had put my payment they received in credit - I now had the choice of a refund or use the credit for something else. I double checked and indeed the money was taken from my bank. I searched for the ordered phone on Takalot and found it still advertised, but now at a much increased price. I contacted them and was told they don’t have the phone supp**** by that same supplier advertised on their site. I argued as I had the same advert for the same phone (same model, specs, colour, supplier, even item code) on my screen. They told me to take a picture and send it to them as they didn’t believe me, so I did.
The next day (today) I received 2 emails from them. The first contained a barrage of terms and condition interpretations where they basically said they have no liability. No attempt to remedy the situation at all. In the 2nd email they praise themselves on their customer experience and urged me to rate them.
Unbelievable. I nevertheless immediately opted for my refund.
