Give people opened gifts cause you never know

My wife bought me a gift for our anniversary and when she received it she wrapped it up and put it away, when it came to our anniversary and i open the gift we saw it was broken, when we let takealot know that the product was broken they came and collected it only to tell us sorry it is over our 7 day return policy so we will not be replacing it or refunding you and then sent the gift back, this to me is so unfair as my wife got me a gift and she wasn't going to open it up to check it, i mean who wants to receive a opened gift. Takealot you should re look how you deal with customers as this was let down to us on your side and you have lost two customers. So to sum up if you buy something for someone as a present open it and then wrap it and give it to the person or make sure they deliver the day before so that if the person opens the gift and its broken you have enough time to send it back, don't plan a head people you will loose out, that is what i got out of this. and now we sit with a broken gift.
