Get R200 off Visa and Takealot Visa

Takealot recently had a promotion where if you purchase over a certain amount and pay using your VISA card, then you will get a R200 voucher to be used on your next purchase. The promotion ran from 1 August to 30 September 2019.

I made a purchase in September and did not receive my R200 voucher so I enquired from customer support. According to the customer support: ‘It was stated within the Ts&Cs of this campaign that this promotion is limited to the first 13,100 coupon redemptions and ends on 30 September 2019. Redemptions are valid until the maximum number of coupon redemptions have been reached or coupon expiration dates have been reached, whichever comes first. As the redemption limit had been reached no new Visa coupons are being issued.’

My argument: 1. Why did they not add that bit of info on the email cover in big instead of in the small fine print in t&c . They could have said: ‘hurry…only available for first 13100 purchases’ just below the heading, also 2. When the quota was reached, why did takealot not then send out a notification stating that ‘sorry you missed out, the 13100 mark has been reached.’

I have noticed in the past that takealot tends to be very questionable with their promo’s. When they have a special and state things like eg 50% or 70% off specials, if you had noticed the price the day before its not that special on the previous day price, its that special on the highest priced they could have found in potentially the entire world. Also, when they posted an incorrect price on their daily deals, they suddenly have an out of stock problem. Their black Friday deals have also had its own set of bad reviews.

Very disappointed as a very very long term takealot customer (I mean I was a customer from way back when takealot was take2)! There is no need for them to do business in this manner especially since in other aspects, they are very good for example with their deliveries and returns and certain items are cheaper than elsewhere.
