Forced to store credit card details

Takealot have always forced customers to store their credit card details, which I don't believe is right. However, it was possible to immediately go and delete the details. They have now taken that option away as well, and a customer paying by credit card has his/her card details stored and no option is given to opt out of that or delete the card details. Is that legal? Surely, as a customer I should have the right to refuse to store my card details. Other stores have the decency to give that option.
