False deals on Takealot

On Black Friday Takealot had a Cricut maker 3 bundle for 6999. This was a really good deal and I added it to my cart and proceeded to checkout. The price reflected in my cart jumped to 9299. I deleted the item and went back thinking that it was an error. The price still showed as 6999 and again it showed as 9299 in my cart. I repeated this process a few times and took screenshots which I immediately sent with my complaint to Takealot via DM on Instagram. I was then sent two coupons with a cricut promo code. When I tried using them on the Takealot store, a message popped up stating the code expired earlier in November. I sent a message informing them of this, which has been ignored. I then emailed them informing them of what happened.

I received an automated email saying they will get back to me within 3 working days. This time has elapsed and I have not gotten any response from them.

This is not the first time I have experienced pricing issues with them. Previously I have seen items displayed at a certain price. At a later date the same item is shown to be marked down. However, the original price is higher and the discounted price is the same as the price I had initially seen.

It would seem that Takealot lures customers with false prices in the guise of deals. The competition commission needs to look into this.
