False Advertising & Zero Service Support

On 21 December 2022 I contacted TakeaLot.com (very politely) to confirm that a device which they sold me via their website was not new, but seemed to have been used. This was confirmed not only be receiving the device in the form of what seems to be a back-pack as opposed to a new, sealed, box, as well as no supporting documents included (i.e. manuals, warranty documents, etc). I subsequently sent TakeaLot.com an email, including images, of the device after which I received a response from their support department confirming that they can see that we seem to have been supp**** a "used" device. This was not a major problem as we needed a device for personal and work reasons. I kindly provided two potential solutions from my side to assist with a speedy resolution to the situation, most importantly confirming that the device was for my wife (partially a Christmas gift) as she had just begun a new job and required the new device for her work (i.e. income purposes). Subsequent to this situation we are still waiting today (16 January 2022) for assistance and resolution other than the copy/paste "this is our policy" responses we have been receiving from TakeaLot.com, which have been with zero customer service intentions. I have, on multiple times (proof available) confirmed that the device was purchased and required for income purposes, meaning we cannot send it back and wait for days before the device is analysed for replacement. Not to mention TakeaLot.com shirking responsibility of the situation by constantly telling us that there are no devices available (I subsequently confirmed with an alternative supplier that their are devices available, meaning TakeaLot.com just simply seems to lazy to lift a finger to actually source a replacement device for whatever reason). I have politely explained that if it wasn't for the fact that my wife's income, and reputation with her new employer, were not of importance we would gladly send the device back. I have even gone to the lengths of confirming that a new, replacement device can be sent to a collection centre where we will gladly hand in the used (proven and acknowledged as such) on the basis that the new device is only released upon confirming that the "used" device has been handed in (we are not here to ***** from TakeaLot.com). Still, to date, zero actual assistance. TakeaLot.com will seemingly rather not take responsibility for what was, for all intents and purposes, a minor error which is now blowing out of proportion. Not to mention, I emailed TakeaLot.com prior to making the payment for the device online to confirm that the device was in actual fact a new device, to which I received confirmation via email with no indication that there was no stock available (I was able to proceed with the actual purchase). It seems someone at TakeaLot.com has made a mistake and is not willing to own up, but rather putting more effort into trying to avert responsibility rather than sort the situation out. Personally, being the owner of an online retail store myself, this is terrible service, not to mention blatant ***** considering the circumstances of having been supp**** with a product not up to standard of what was advertised. This is being taken further as we speak, yet I hope that TakeaLot.com will resolve the issue so that we can put this behind us.

Reviewer Update
Good day. Subsequent to my previous review I have not received a response from TakeaLot.com, as well as having posted a review of their product in mention, warning other potential customers, my review has since been declined. Kindly find below my review for reference sake, posted on the TakeaLot.com product on 18 January 2022:

RATING - 1/5 Stars

HEADING - Sold as new. Received as used!

After querying the condition of this laptop in December 2022 as part of a Christmas gift for my wife I received that it is in fact a new device. Upon receiving the device it did not come in a "new" product box, excluded any manuals or warranty paperwork, and to date, am "fighting" with TakeaLot.com for them to fulfill the original order. Coincidentally since bringing up the issue wth TakeaLot.com shorty after providing them photographic evidence and confirming the situation, the product has gone up to R15,999.00 from R14,999.00, as well as suspiciously being "sold out" without any assistance to confirm when a new product will be available in order to return the "used" unit for the "new" unit ordered. Holding thumbs that I will have the opportunity to provide an update to this post with the issue resolved.

It's 27 March and still no assistance from TakeaLot, besides the standard "Our Ts & Cs require you to return the device for inspection before processing", which is a redundant excuse for the fact that they delivered the wrong product (as used instead of new laptop) in the first place.
