False advertising

On the 1st of August I received a promotional email from takealot with various deals and promotions. It just so happend that I needed a powerbank and wanted to buy a Romoss Polymoss 10 which was advertised for R280. Unfortunately when I tried to buy this item it kept reverting to the old price R549, which is stange because the deal states "Offers valid intil Friday, 5th August or while stocks last".

So one can clearly see that there is stock available seeing as the exact product is still in the store.

I then contacted Takealot directly with a phone call and a eamil to their support. I explained the situation and received a reply from a John Minnaar who told me that the promotion was only available untill stocks lasts.

I then explained to him that the product is available online and that there is stock if you try and buy the item and that the promotion seems to be like false advertising. Why else would you send out a newsletter with the wrong information.

John then rep**** and promised to get back to me soon, it is now the 14th of August and yet there is no reply?

I am very dissapointed with the lack of credibility shown by such a big company who I have trusted for so long. The consumer rights act is there to protect customers and it cannot be swept under the rug so carelessly.

Please get back to me regarding the above mentioned.
