False advertising

UNHAPPY CUSTOMER!!

On the 15th of March 2026 I bought a Security camera from Takealot and in the description of the item on Takealot, it specifies the following:

"2. 4G Wireless Connectivity & Free Data

- 4G full-network compatibility: No Wi-Fi needed! Stay connected anywhere with 4G cellular data, ideal for remote areas without stable Wi-Fi (e.g., courtyards, parking lots).

- 99 years free data: Enjoy unlimited data usage with no recharge required - save on ongoing data costs and monitor worry-free forever."

Big was my surprise when i received the camera to find that although it came with a SIM Card with only n 7-day Trial period on connectivity, I have to buy monthly airtime to be able to use the camera remotely.

I bought this camera based on the free airtime and if that is not the case, I assume I was the victim of false and misleading advertising.

I then called Takealot and various emails was between me and Takelot. I received feedback like that the marketing department is looking into it, that the marketing department will get back to me, that the Marketing department don't find this wording in the description and that the marketing department in so many words actually told me that it is my problem and not their problem.

So today, I send another mail asking for feedback and I don't think that I will receive feedback. This leaves me no choice than to request a refund and go buy a camera somewhere else!

I will even buy a camera from a vendor at the flee markets in Pta. At least they would give me better service!
