Failure to foresee their own success, became a victim thereof.
<p>I have been a Takealot Client since they still called themselves Take2. So I know them, I know their service, and I have become accustomed to the trends related to their business.</p> <p> </p> <p>I have, in the past two years, had the misfortune of being on the receiving end of their business success. I placed an order that was due to be delivered on Friday past (9 Dec 2016), as per the SMS, it should have reached me before 17:00 in the afternoon via FEDEX couriers. At 16:55, I take it upon myself to contact their delivery call centre, as I cannot wait beyond 17:00, I have a child to pick up from daycare.</p> <p> </p> <p>The callcentre lady, I did not get her name, very annoyed by my call made an insincere apology, as "they are very busy", like this is my fault or problem. I asked, that, since the original delivery was destined for my work address, that they redirect to my home address, and rather bring the parcel on Saturday. She took my details and we concluded the phone conversation.</p> <p> </p> <p>I oredered Dremel cutting discs. Discs that I needed on Saturday. Sunday might also have been acceptable. Discs that I did not get. So there we are. I couldn't fulfill my own obligations, because I too am now a victim of Takealot's success.</p> <p> </p> <p>So. Takealot. How are we going to deal with this...? I am back at work today, it is Monday. Where are my Dremel discs? How will I be compensated, as a valued client that has spent close to R50,000 on your website over the past seven years... Will I get another insincere "we are very busy this time of year, we are sorry for the inconvenience"? Or are you actually going to do something meaningful, like give me my order for free as a gesture of goodwill?</p> <p> </p> <p>This is the second year that this has happened. You can't use the "we are busy this time of year" excuse anymore. Last year should have been your wake-up call to course-correct and ensure it does not happen again this year.</p> <p> </p> <p>Ball is in your court.</p>
