Extremely Disappointed: Refused Collection of Urgently Needed Item for Injured, Pregnant Wife

I’m writing this review because our recent experience with Takealot has been extremely frustrating. My wife is 37 weeks pregnant and has unfortunately broken her ankle. We ordered a knee scooter from Takealot specifically to help her move around and get to a crucial doctor’s appointment, as the temporary solution she’s using is causing her a lot of pain.

We received an SMS that the package had arrived at their Bloemfontein office, and I went there in hopes of picking it up a day early because of our urgent need. However, I was told that they would not release the package to me due to their policy that it must be delivered on the scheduled date—despite the fact that we had fully paid for it and it was already at their facility.

It’s incredibly disappointing that Takealot wouldn’t make an exception for a pregnant woman with a broken ankle who genuinely needed this item for medical reasons. The lack of flexibility and empathy is really disheartening. I sincerely hope that in the future, Takealot can show more understanding in situations like this.
